Pricing Ethics & Bereavement Pause
Effective date: June 22, 2026 · Last updated: June 22, 2026
Our commitment
EverLetter is a private family legacy platform — not grief therapy, not a chatbot, and not a social network. We charge for secure storage, thoughtful product features, and the scope of your family archive. We will never charge more because you are grieving, mourning a loss, or navigating an anniversary.
Pricing differences reflect family size and product capabilities — not emotional urgency.
Pricing principles
- Value before payment. You can save your first message before checkout. We want you to experience EverLetter, not just read about it.
- Transparent tiers. Essential is a complete plan for one parent and one child — not a crippled demo. Family Legacy is our recommended household plan. Generations is for extended lineage — we label roadmap features clearly.
- No grief exploitation. We do not use death anniversaries, Conversations recordings, or guardian workflows to pressure upgrades. Upgrade prompts explain capacity and features — never imply a deceased loved one would want you to pay more.
- Contributors are included. Grandparents and relatives you invite do not need separate paid accounts on Family Legacy. Your subscription covers the family circle you authorize.
- Cancel anytime. No cancellation fees. Manage pause, downgrade, or cancel at period end from Settings → Membership. After a subscription ends, you have 60 days to export your vault or resubscribe.
- Self-serve billing pause. Recurring subscribers can pause billing for 1–6 months in-app (separate from bereavement assistance below).
Bereavement pause
If you or your household are navigating the death of a loved one, financial stress, or another crisis, you may request a bereavement pause on your subscription.
- Duration: 30–90 days, depending on circumstances
- What happens: Billing pauses. Your memories and recordings remain secure and accessible to you.
- How to request: Email support@everletter.family with the subject line “Bereavement pause request.” We respond within two business days. No documentation is required beyond a brief explanation.
A pause is not a refund of past billing periods. It is a humane billing suspension when life is already heavy enough.
Financial hardship
We maintain a limited number of reduced-rate Essential memberships for single parents and caregivers facing documented hardship. Availability varies by quarter. Contact support@everletter.family to inquire — we review requests with dignity and without a burdensome application process.
Conversations & premium features
Conversations — private voice remembrance for loved ones who have passed — is included with Family Legacy, Generations, and Lifetime. Essential members may try one conversation with up to three recordings.
EverLetter does not simulate deceased loved ones, clone voices, or generate AI replies. Conversations preserves your words in your voice. Upgrades related to Conversations reflect storage and family scope — not access to someone who has passed.
Pricing committee
EverLetter reviews pricing quarterly with input from parents, marketing advisors, and grief-informed ethics reviewers. We track refund reasons, support requests mentioning affordability, and conversion by family type to ensure our packaging remains fair — especially for single parents.
